Compare the best open graph image generator APIs for dynamic 1200x630 PNG and SVG. See pricing, features, and when each option wins.
Prices and features verified against vendor pages on 2026-09-05 · PNG & SVG · 1200×630
We compared entry pricing, free tiers, output formats, auth/integration friction, and AI-agent readiness (MCP server, llms.txt). Prices were verified against each vendor’s own pricing page or embedded plan data on 2026-09-05; where a vendor does not publish a fact, we say so instead of guessing.

MCP column: verified by fetching each vendor’s MCP endpoint/page on 2026-09-05; — = not yet verified. ScreenshotOne/APITemplate/Bannerbear pricing from their public pricing pages. OGForge (ogforge.co) row: MCP tools/list + x402 402 payload observed 2026-09-07 (agent lane $0.01/render on Base Sepolia testnet, not Base mainnet as its docs claim; not affiliated with oganvil.rowu.workers.dev).
Auth model (JWT + DNS TXT vs one GET URL), pricing ($5/mo vs free tier + $5/mo), MCP support, and output formats — with an honest list of where OG Pilot wins.
vs DIY with workers-og / satori: managed edge rendering without fonts or WASM in your deploy.
vs next/og ImageResponse: one URL in generateMetadata instead of render plumbing in your Node server.
Dedicated OG endpoint vs screenshot API: no HTML page to host, browser-less edge rendering, MCP for agents.
$49/mo template automation vs $5/mo one-URL OG cards — with an honest “where Bannerbear wins” section.
Template pipeline vs zero-config OG cards: pricing tiers, free tiers, and MCP support compared.
An OG image API generates the 1200×630 preview card that social platforms (X/Twitter, Slack, Discord, LinkedIn, Facebook) display when a page is shared. Instead of designing each card by hand, you point your page’s og:image meta tag at an API URL that renders the image on demand.
Screenshot APIs (e.g. ScreenshotOne) capture full web pages with a headless browser. OG image APIs compose a purpose-built 1200×630 card from page data (title, subtitle, brand) — faster, cheaper, and designed for social previews rather than page captures.
DIY with Satori/@vercel/og means shipping fonts, WASM and layout code in your app and operating it at the edge. An API like oganvil moves that to a managed URL: one meta tag, free tier, PNG+SVG output, with identical inputs cached so you never pay twice for the same card.
OG Pilot has the cheapest paid entry at $5/month for 10,000 images. oganvil has the most generous free tier (50 unique images/month, no card, no expiry). For paid plans, compare quotas carefully — oganvil bills per unique image so repeat views never consume quota.
oganvil does: a streamable-http MCP server with generate_og_image and get_quota tools, plus llms.txt and server-card.json for agent discovery. As of 2026-09-05 no public MCP endpoint was found for OG Pilot; APITemplate shows no MCP support, while Bannerbear and ScreenshotOne run hosted MCP servers (mcp.bannerbear.com, mcp.screenshotone.com). A same-named but unrelated vendor, OGForge (ogforge.co), also runs a free MCP lane (3 template tools) and a $0.01/render x402 agent lane on Base Sepolia testnet — verified by direct probe on 2026-09-07.
One URL, every page covered. 50 unique images/month free — no credit card required.
